Blog Assignment #7

Contends come from"Youth Voting" by Jeffrey Bivin
The claim: Even though US students today get better education and they
seem more likely to be successful, they still "continue" being lack of the passion of "civic engagement ."
Reasons: 1. The Students today are more "disconnected" to from the political issues.
2. The disconnection from the political issues comes from the the disconnection from
public life, which is due to the lack of adequate knowledge and information.
3.The lack of civic instruction in the education system is the original source of the
the problem of the young citizens disconnection to the voting and democracy.
4. The current reluctance of youth voting starts to create a cycle for the further
disconnection.
5. Misguided by a government wrought with wrong-doing, students today even get
further disconnectedness from the government policy.
6. Medium negative effect
7. Poverty makes poor young voters difficult to involve.
8. Early parenthood and early marriage also affect the civic engagement.

Counter argument: " Many people look at today's youth and see a future generation of successful, prosperous citizens who will continue to uphold the ideas and principles of American society. In many ways that belief is very true and justified. Today's youth are the recipients if better health care and greater opportunities for achievements and success. They lead more enriched and active lifestyles than any prior generation."

The write uses statistics evidence a lot to persuade the readers to believe that the problem of youth voting today is really serious. The author also like to quote the experts' words to persuade readers.

I find that the essay is truly persuasive. According to her sufficient evidences and all the statistics analysis I really believe that the youth voting nowadays is really becoming a problem.
